Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Scott Brockman, AAE, is the recipient of the prestigious 2013 Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
He was presented the award by AAAE Chair Mark Brewer, recognizing his career-long leadership and contributions to the international aviation industry.
Brewer commented, “Scott’s selection reflects the high regard that airport professionals have for him and serves as a testament to his many accomplishments on behalf of Memphis and Shelby County as well as the broader airport and aviation industry. He is a valued colleague who is well-known for his exceptional skills and leadership in airport management.”
The Distinguished Service Award, given annually, is one of AAAE’s highest levels of recognition. According to AAAE, “Men and women receive it based on their accomplishments in their professional and personal lives. Respected leaders of their own communities, these men and women also contribute to other aviation organizations, serve AAAE and its chapters and participate in civic and community affairs. DSA recipients exemplify the best in airport management by continually bringing credit to the profession and the aviation community.”
In addition to his career in Memphis, Scott has held executive management positions with Tucson International Airport, Des Moines International Airport and Sarasota-Bradenton International during his 28-year career.
He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of AAAE and the International Association of Airport Executives, and Chairman of the AAAE Audit Committee. During his career, Scott also has served as President of AAAE’s Southeast Chapter; Chairman of the 2011 AAAE National Airports Conference, Chairman and Southeast Chapter representative of the AAAE Board of Examiners; and a member of various Transportation Research Board Airport Cooperative Research Program panels.
“I have repeatedly said we have an all-star in Scott. It is nice to see him receive this national recognition in support of what we already knew,” said Airport Authority Chairman Jack Sammons. “The Authority and our community should be proud he is the leader of our very distinguished team.”
