On January 2, 2014, I will have completed 41 years at the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority, the last 29 years as President and CEO. I have enjoyed every day during my career working with the most talented team members that have made the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority the most respected and admired Airport Authority in North America. Our achievements include our partnership with FedEx to make Memphis International Airport the biggest and most important cargo airport in the world, being a hub for one of the biggest passenger airlines in the United States, having one of the largest Economic Impacts of airports in North America, and being a leader in national and world aviation and airport issues. Some of the associations that have benefited from our involvement include American Association of Airport Executives, Airports Council International, Airport Minority Advisory Council, Mid-South Minority Business Council, our adopted Oakhaven School Campus, Memphis Music Foundation, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Memphis and Shelby County Schools, Greater Memphis Chamber, Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau, United Way, civic clubs, and other charities. I am pleased that Scott Brockman, a ten year veteran with the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority will succeed me as President and CEO. Memphis International Airport will be well served by Scott Brockman’s leadership going forward. The best is yet to come!
Thank you to everyone who has helped me during my time at Memphis International. It has been a privilege serving our travelers and the Memphis community. See you on an airplane sometime soon.
