The long-awaited arrival of free wireless internet access took place at Memphis International Airport last month, giving passengers their most requested amenity just in time for the holidays.
The service, provided by Boingo Wireless, is available throughout the terminal building including the ticket lobbies, concourses, airline gates and baggage claim. The new rental car customer service lobby located in the airport’s Ground Transportation Center should have access by the end of the month.
The new free Wi-Fi service is unlimited, ad-supported, and delivered at the speed of 1.5 Mbps. The access allows passengers to quickly check email or surf the web. A higher speed of 5 Mbps is offered to heavier data users for a nominal fee that is tiered to usage time.
“Our customers asked for free Wi-Fi service and we listened,” said Scott Brockman, the Airport’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are committed to providing a ‘Positively MEMorable’ travel experience for our passengers, from the entrance road to the plane.”
