Southwest Airlines Adding Second Baltimore Flight This Summer

Southwest Airlines has announced that it is adding an additional non-stop flight between Memphis and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) in its summer schedule, which begins in June 2014. In August 2013, Southwest subsidiary AirTran introduced nonstop service to BWI. Southwest officially began its service in Memphis on November 3, taking over all AirTran flight operations. Southwest also provides nonstop service to Chicago Midway, Orlando, Houston Hobby and Tampa.

Airport President and Chief Executive Officer Scott Brockman said, “We are extremely excited about Southwest Airlines adding another non-stop flight to their schedule following through on their promise that ‘if we use it, we will get more.’ Clearly, our local passengers are supporting Southwest and Southwest is listening!”

Dan Landson, Communication Specialist for Southwest Airlines, added “We take a close look at where our customers want to go and add service to help get them there. Since bringing Southwest’s low fares and legendary customer service to the Memphis International Airport in November, we have seen strong demand which has allowed us to add flights to the routes where there is demand from our customers.”

The second non-stop to BWI will run Sunday through Friday.
